THE INVESTIGATOR'S NOTES / CASE 004

The story behind the evidence.

01

THE CASE

What arrived on the desk.

My own studio, now focused on website design, brand strategy and identity systems. It began with owners who needed more than a logo: a point of view, a recognizable identity and a website with a purpose. The refresh brings that thinking into a hidden-workshop world visitors can explore.

02

THE EVIDENCE

What turned up.

  • Clients could describe what they sold, but not who it was for.
  • Existing marks were based on taste, so nothing survived contact with a second channel.
  • Websites listed services instead of making a case for the business.
03

THE INVESTIGATION

The strategic read.

Position first, identity second, website as proof. I carried that method into the Devised Designs refresh: the brand strategy defines the purpose, the identity connects the details, and the website lets visitors experience the idea.

04

THE MOVE

What I did about it.

  • Defined the studio’s focus on website design, brand strategy and identity systems.
  • Built the refreshed identity around a connection mark, red neon, terminal green and workshop materials.
  • Documented positioning, voice, typography, color and applications in a 14-page brand refresh guide.
  • Designed and built immersive websites with purposeful navigation, motion and inquiry paths.
  • Connected S.E. Photography’s retro identity to a welcoming conversation-pit website.
05

THE RESULT

Case conclusion.

Businesses launched with a point of view, an identity that matched it, and websites that argued for them.
